UNT Economics Graduate Students Nick Herring and Miles Shoaf Win this Year’s Buxton Challenge.

UNT Economics Graduate Students Nick Herring and Miles Shoaf Win this Year's Buxton Challenge.

Every spring semester, econometrics students from across the region participate in a competition sponsored by Buxton in which they work with real data from one of Buxton's actual clients and use their analytical skills to develop models to predict revenue potential of future retail sites. UNT Economics graduate students Nick Herring and Miles Shoaf were selected as this year's winners, from an outstanding group of competitors.

Their work incorporated factors such as population, income, home value, presence of competitors, and education to forecast sales as potential new locations of a major health club chain. The team of judges at Buxton were thoroughly impressed with the scope and quality of Nick and Miles' work and the presentation that they put together. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to these fine analysts!
